Kitchen Vent Pipe - how far above roof does it need to be?

I have a PVC kitchen vent pipe that I recently took out to fix. After throwing it away, I realized I should have measured it to know how long to extend it above the roof.

I was wondering how far above the roof does the kitchen vent pipe need to be? Or actually, how far above the roofing's metal boot thing does the PVC vent pipe need to extend?

I'm guessing you mean a plumbing vent? Looking at mine...they are all about 16" or so above the roof deck.

I think there are rules for the main vent...but not sure.
