Washer Drain Trap

I need to add a trap to a 2" copper washer drain.

Do I just sweat a male adapter on the drain pipe and install a 2" ABS p-trap (preferrably with a clean out) and an ABS standpipe? I guess i could finish everything in copper, but ABS would be far easier and less expensive to use.

You could do as you suggest though I'm sure a 2" copper male adapter is pretty expensive. I'd just use a no hub coupling to connect between copper pipe and pvc.

You will also see rubber couplings without the metal band around the outside. Yes, it will work but is not permitted in most situations if you are working to code.

That would be a little easier. The main thing is that I can use ABS or PVC for the trap and standpipe.
