CPVC to Brass valve connection

I read some bad reviews about CPVC to copper adapters:

NIBCO 1/2 in. CPVC CTS Male Transition Adapter-C4704-CT at The Home Depot

I'm wondering if I can use ""Great White pipe joint compound with Teflon" and CPVC threaded adapters as shown below:

The instruction for "Great White" says "Use on water, ...., " and "..., CPVC, ...".

Thanks for comments.

Yes, but also use more TFE tape. It's not suppose to be used as a sealant but everybody does it. I would contact NIBCO and tell them about your problem and reference those others. It would interesting to hear what they have to say. Also ask for a refund. What have you got to lose?

I recommend a maximum of two wraps of Teflon tape and then a bit of Teflon paste, enough to fill the grooves in the threads and no more. Teflon tape alone on plastic threads into copper or brass threads will leak about 90% of the time in my experience. Adding the Teflon paste drops the leak rate to maybe 1/2%.
