solar pre heat for on demand heaters

some people say you cant have a solar pre heat on an on demand water tank because it
makes the heater screw up when it heats the water too fast. What do you think of that??
Some say you can put a 3 way bypass valve with a controller and just bypass the heater when you have enough solar hot water.
What is the best way to do a pre heat???

I would contact the manufacturer of the water tank.

I use a Titan Scr2 N-120 tankless heater and it samples input and output temperatures 21 times per second. I used to have a solar heater pre heating my water before it went through the Titan. It worked great until my solar heater hoses started to decay. So now i just use the Titan to heat my water. The solar system worked great to preheat the water though...

Your concerns are correct. My brother has a tankless water heater and uses waste heat from his ground source heat pump to preheat the water. He uses a tempering valve to make sure the inlet water on the tankless is not too high.
