Question Kitchen sink too far from Main Drain Pipe, and it's 2nd floor :(

Hi All,

We are building our house, yet we're stuck at connecting Kitchen sink with Main Drain pipe. Our 1st floor and 2nd floor kitchens are the different location in the floor plan. Now we're missing a drain pipe on the 2nd floor and Kitchen sink is about 21 feet away from main stack where our floor kitchen is. Below 2nd floor kitchen is our TV Lounge thinking to hole on the roof to install a new drain pipe but little scary for me. Also it will make our TV lounge ugly?

Looking for best advice on connecting Kitchen sink to main stack which is 21 feet away at this point.

Thank You

Welcome to the forums! It doesn't sound like your issue is insurmountable. A 21' horizontal run requires about a 5" drop (1/4" drop per 1' run). This run can be either on the 2nd floor with the wall built out a bit to hide it, or it could drop to the 1st floor and hidden with a small box-in.

You'll need a vent too going up to the roof.

This is based on US codes and best practices - you may have different requirements where you are.
