Lawn Sprinkler System

I don't know if I posted in the right place but I need to connect the main pipe to the sprinkler pipes underground. The house I bought was a foreclosure and the sprinkler system was disconnected at the time I bought the house. I have attached a picture in this thread to show the details. My question is what adapter would I need to connect the two pipes together. Both pipes are 1" in diameter. The metal pipe from the house is threaded on the bottom. The pipe that leads to the ground is not threaded.

It would help if the pipe in the ground was excavated a little more so we could see it better. It looks like something is broken off inside the bottom copper fitting. Assuming the pipe in the ground is PVC, I would probably first cut the copper pipe with a copper tubing cutter. Then extend the PVC with a PVC coupling and a male nipple. Then screw the copper fitting & pipe onto the nipple, then use a union to connect the copper together where it was cut. You will obviously have to cut the copper to length with your copper tubing cutter.

But theres probably more than one way to do it.

Hi, Take ths green cover of the box in the picture. Probably control valves inside the box. Take a picture it would make it easier on folks if they could see the layout.,
