The single handle control on my kitchen sink faucet has developed an increasingly severe water hammer when the water is turned on. If the faucet is opened slowly, there is no hammer. Can you tell me what is going on?

The thing I would try is replace the rubber seat and springs inside it and see if that solves the problem. and when you have the faucet apart, check for wron out parts.

Water hammer

Thanks for the reply. I was in the middle of the project at my last post, so continued with the repair. Determined that the problem was probably caused by a faulty diverter valve in the spray hose assembly. Rather than rebuild, I chose to replace the entire faucet which solved the problem.
