Slope Question

I installed new sump pump. The discharge goes vertical, then horizontal, then vertical and out. Within the specs of the manual.

However, the horizontal portion turned out to be sloped back toward the sump pit not sloped away like a standard drain.

Does a sump pump discharge, PRIOR TO DISCHARGE INSIDE HOUSE, need to follow a slope rule?

Generally no. You may need to install a check valve at the pump or drill a small hole in the discharge line to squirt back to the sump. The hole would only be necessary if the pump cannot attain full speed against the head pressure of the filled discharge piping.
