Woodford Hydrant Sticking
I have this in another section but have not gotten any response so it must be in the wrong place, hopefully this is the right section:
I have a Woodford hydrant that is getting very stiff, hard to turn on and off. It is in the barn so not exposed to the weather, I have another one that is by the garden that is exposed and older and it works fine. Any ideas on a remedy for this? I have used PB Blaster on it in the past but don't know why one would be okay and the other such a pain, especially when it is the one inside. It is a freeze proof yard hydrant, looks like the Y34 model.

You said you sprayed it with PB blaster but did not say if it helped or not. Have you tried loosening the packing nut? You can also disassemble the hydrant and lubricate the moving parts.

Call woodford and ask for tech support... just rebuild it would be my opinion...
Even though the shut off is below ground we did have a cold winter last year. You may have froze up some and damaged the rod or what not...

I gave it a shot of PB Blaster and left the can out there so that I can hit it every time I walk by. Hopefully I can get it loosened up for winter. It is starting to operate a little better.

PB Blaster did the trick, the more I exercise it the better it gets. As I said I left the can out there and give it a squirt whenever I pass by, after about 5 applications it started to loosen up. Glad it was not something catastrophic.
