getting screw out of single handle faucet

I have a single handle kitchen faucet, for the life of me I can't get the screw loose to remove the cartridge. What do I do?

Let it soak overnight with WD-40 or penetrating oil.
Then try to tighten it clockwise to try to break it loose, and then unscrew it counter-clockwise.
