Question

Hi I had i older model kinetico water softner that come with the house we bought. It seems to get stuck regenerating the tanks all the time. We shut it off by bypassing it and that seems to get it, unstuck most of the time but there is times that it will take three or four days of turning it off and on to get to stop. I have no idea of how this thing works. I need info on how this thing works and some kind of info on how to repair our problem!

thanks for any help

Cool

I've had a water softener for almost 25 years. I'm not familiar with a Kenetico, but they all work basically the same.
It sounds like the screens and ports in the head are
stopped up.
Unplug it, turn it on the bypass, remove the little port covers, and disassemble the screens and ports, and clean them out.
Good Luck!

The dual tank Kinetico can also jam up in the valve assembly which meters the flow and schedules the regen cycle. Much to my chagrin, I have found that the best maintenance on the Kinetico system is to have the local dealer drop by for $100 service call annually. It is likely not under warranty, so if you want to tinker on your own, you can get their field manual for a price from the local dealer.
