Sewer backflow valve
We have had several floods of storm water coming into our basement toilet from excessive rain. We are considering a back flow valve. Our city says that it is ok to install. Of the 2 types inside the basement and out side, with the inside instillation I am concerned about water pressure causing a broken pipe in the basement. The outside instillation is more expensive but seems to me to be safer. Does anyone have experience with both types. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forums..
Outside install would not be accessible if repair was needed. Flap gets stuck, etc... ( 4.5 ft deep?)
Your sewer pipe is under basement slab I assume if toy have a toilet down there..
I would find the incoming line, jack hammer and install one of these with some access hole.
These best out there for whole home protection IMO..

This is interesting...
Adapt-A-Valve backwater valves
Not sure if a new product but I would possible go this route.. I probably would still install inside the home... Less digging if your sewer line is indeed 4 ft down... I would assume if your profile is correct as IL??
