Moen Diverter Valve Problem

Moen 8300 series tub and shower 3-stem valve

I replaced the diverter shown below:

The original problem was that when using the shower, some water bypassed the shower and came out through the tub spout. The problem still exists with the new diverter valve stem. What do i need to do to correct this problem?

Did you replace it with a Moen part? If not, Moen will probably send one to you for free.

Part

The replacement is a Moen part.

Is there supposed to be a washer or ring between the two mixing holes and the output hole?

If it's a Moen part, it should work. There could be a problem with the shower body, itself. However, if it's only a slight drip, I wouldn't worry about it. Otherwise, wait for Lawrosa to comment. He & his cow know more than I do.

Model Number

Moen 8300 series tub and shower 3-stem valve
My apologies, guys. The model number series is 83000, not 8300.

Here is the parts diagram:

At the end of the diverter valve stem n where it was into the pipe a washer fits at the whole end covering the holes kinda like a thimble with two holes on the side one for shower one for tub so when you turn it it will divert the water to where you want it. I had mine fixed recently. Also the shop where it was bought is no longer there n my ex years ago had bought extra. I have no idea what it's called I do however would like to order more. so I'm on my search for more good luck
