Basement rough in identification

Bought a house with a basent rough in. I have 3 pipes sticking out of the ground. 1-4.5" , assuming toilet, and 2- 2.5", 1 of which is an inch from the wall (sink?) And the other tub? A) am I correct in these assumptions? B) what do I need to do about venting? I don't see anything to tie into overhead, only the drain from the laundry room above that feeds the stack which is 6 ft from the nearest of my 3 pipes. I know this is a lot of questions but any guidance is most appreciated.

Also, if I'm right that the 2.5" pipe is the sink, would I be able to drain a urinal into that along with the sink?

Your description sounds right, but not seeing it would not allow us to properly identify their use. Can you post pictures of the stubs so we can see what you see. Also look up to see if there is capped off 2" pipe in the ceiling area. It could be your vent. Post a picture of that area, too. http://www.doityourself.com/forum/el...your-post.html

Really appreciate the feedback.
Had trouble with uploading, kept failing so trying this instead.

Here's a link:

First 2 are what the overhead looks like. The 1st floor washer and laundry tub both feed that pipe which then empties into the stack (picture 4) at the front corner of the "bathroom". The 3rd pic is what the stubs look like. Really appreciate any advice.

I think you have the toilet, sink, and shower pipes figured out. You'll need to confirm the shower has a trap under the slab (it likely does). When you open the pipe, pour some water down and look down with a flashlight. You should see some standing water in it.

As for a urinal, you should be able to tie it into the sink drain without a problem with a sanitary tee. As long as they are close to each other, I believe you can use the sink vent for both - but I've never installed a urinal to be honest, so I'm not sure.

It looks like that silver vent is for an exhaust fan. I find it hard to believe they planned for that but not a plumbing vent - though I don't see one there. Maybe in your locale you can get away with an AAV? The house looks pretty new, do you have the contact information for the builder that you might be able to ask how the basement was planned?

Tap the concrete around the shower pipe. It should crack very easily to expose a 12" x 12" square hole filled with gravel and sand. Digging out the gravel and sand will expose the trap which should be movable to adjust for your shower location within reason.

You're awesome. Thanks a lot for the info. Yeah it was built in 2011. I'll see if I can get the plumber's info and find out the deal. My understanding is that AAV's are pretty widely used around here so maybe that was the thought, but I was a little nervous based on what I've been reading. If I was to use a studor, would I just do one under the sink for the sink/urinal and it would work for shower/toilet since it's so close or would I need one for toilet and shower as well?

I have the same question about identifying the components a basement rough in. Should I add that here or start a new thread in "plumbing"?

It would be best to start a new thread and include pictures, if you can. Sure would help us. Let us know if you have problems in posting it.
