Leaky sink tail pipe

The tail pipe that leads down into the s-trap is leaky. I've included pics of the setup. The tail pipe just pushes up against the drain and is held in place by the washer and lock nut, it's a very flimsy setup. What would be the best way to deal with this?

I believe for that type of strainer you need a flanged tailpipe with the brass nut.

As PJ mentions you need a flanged tailpiece AND a gasket at the basket strainer, they are available in PVC as well as brass.

Your bigger problem is the dual S traps. You need to re-configure that mess to include a vent, probably an Air Admittance Valve (AAV) and also a single trap with the two basket strainers (or basket plus garbage grinder or whatever) connected prior to the trap. The existing arrangement is almost guaranteed to siphon the trap not draining.

Further, gluing ABS trap adapters to PVC piping is just plain wrong.

Got a whole bunch of issues going on there besides being plumbed total wrong.
You have the wrong tail piece, should have had a flange on the top, not a straight piece, your using the wrong type washer.
The gasket under the strainer is leaking and should be replaced.
In that picture it sure looked like some of the nuts where cross threaded because the nuts crooked.
