Banging pipes

Hi All, Bear with me here as i'm a desperate man. After owning and doing a good portion of the maintenance on our own homes for the past 35 years I have a relatively decent amount of home repair knowledge. So after exhausting all my options which include already putting a few holes in the walls, I just can't seem to nail down the area where our banging pipe issue is coming from. Please understand that i'm familiar with the common fixes for banging pipes....shocks....chambers.....draining and refilling....etc....etc and have tried them all to no avail. I'm pretty sure the tool/help i'm for doesn't exist, but as mentioned, being desperate i'm hoping someone may have a "Trick of the trade" type of deal that helps someone pin-point where the banging pipe is so the number of access holes can be kept to a minimum. I've tried automotive type steths.....tried putting a glass up to my ear while holding it to the wall, and a few other goofy things. Any suggestions other than buying some new drywall and get to ripping out the old till I find it ?.......Thanks

You forgot to tell us when they are banging. Are they banging when you run hot water, cold water, flush the toilet, etc....?

It can be hard to find loose pipes especially when they're in the wall.

One repair I have used is to locate the area of the loose pipe(s), find the stud they are near, make a small hole next to the stud and inject a few seconds of spray foam into the cavity.

Is this a new issue after working on the plumbing in anyway.
Is this city water or a well.
Checked the water pressure yet?

Thanks for the replies. Funny one post mentioned recent repair. Bout 2 years ago had to replace shower/faucet control cylinder/valve due to it leaking. Job went fine....leak fixed, no banging. Well of course about 6 months later the new valve started leaking. Oh well...bought a new cylinder....replaced easily....no leaks but banging started. I have already accessed the back of the shower plumbing and there is no banging coming from that area. As for another response....i've narrowed the banging to the cold water pipe as it only bangs when the toilet is flushed and/or the cold water faucets are used, any cold faucet in the house by the way. I put mini shocks on each toilet figuring that it would at least fix the problem at the toilets....wrong, the toilets still bang. They will even bang when the toilet is first flushed and not just when done filling. The only time the cold faucets will not bang is when I have the water running on another faucet, which is obviously due to the pressure relief provided by the open faucet. As mentioned, this is one of those #$%^-#$%^ situations. I know what can cause the banging....and I know how to fix it, but I have to find it first, and i'd like to find it without having to hang my whole interior with new dry wall....LOL. Thanks to all, and keep me posted on any good suggestions.

As was previously asked.... have you checked the water pressure?
The depot sells a pressure gauge that attaches to a hose bib.
