Rain head nipple - should there be this much play and how to solve it?

We had our master bath redone by others and continue to be disappointed by the quality of work (yes, they were referred by a friend and we saw their work there and thought it was good... our things are more 'exotic' though. Not sure if that's the issue.

Anyway - the issue today - they built a soffit over the shower to keep the rain head feed 'inside' the house rather than in the attic. So in this video, the threaded connection is actually about 3" above this ceiling.

Originally, they grouted a plain nipple into place. Then we showed them the nickel plated nipple we bought. So they installed that and the eschoucon we also supplied.

Now we notice there's some motion if we move the rain head. I could see caulking around the opening above the escouchon. Or grout? Or is this an indication that the connector from pex to the threaded fitting in the soffitt isn't screwed in tight enough?

I kinda want to go into the attic, break trhough the sheet rock at the top of the soffit and see how that fitting looks / tighten the screws taht likely hold the fitting.

I kinda like that if there's a leak up there, the water would hopefully follow the nipple down (if it's not caulked). because he used greenboard on the ceiling of the shower rather than concrete board.

Thoughts?

Here's the video:

How often will you be touching the rain shower head? Usually it's not the sort of thing that gets touched except for once a month or year for dusting/cleaning. If it's properly supported a little movement shouldn't hurt anything and wouldn't be worth extraordinary efforts to make it rock solid.

That doesn't look excessively loose. The rain head rarely gets touched so I'd leave it alone.

You could break thru the ceiling from the attic to look into the soffet but I doubt there would be any way to to tighten the screws. You probably couldn't even see the screws as they'd be under the framing member. It depends a lot on how long the nipple is.
