Making LP Smoker Line longer

Hi everyone i just bought a LP smoker and it works great. But the length of the propane line is very short. I want to run my 100 lb tank with it but the line is barely long enough to get a 20 lb tank 2 feet from it. The line is hard crimped on both ends. I was wondering if i could use 3/8" pex barbed couplings and copper crush rings to seal them up if i could splice in a 10' extension line? I have used pex on my house water system but not gas. I will still use the regulator before splicing in the line.

Stop by your local gas supplier. Mine had rubber extension hoses already made up but I had threaded fittings on both ends which made replacing the hose with something longer very easy. Try bringing your smoker with you and explain what you want. They may have the proper fittings and hose to make up what you want.

I would NOT use PEX. Most PEX is susceptible to UV and must be protected from sunlight.

Welcome to the forums.

I would be very surprised if the hose wasn't attached to the regulator with some type of threaded fitting. Usually a 10' line would connect directly to the regulator.
