Sharkbite PEX and JG Speedfit

Has anyone used Sharkbite PEX pipe as sold in HomeDepot with John Guest Speedfit fittings? Do you need a pipe insert?
I've used a lot of John Guest Speedfit back in the UK and I want to use it again for my bit of bathroom re-piping.
Thanks

In the US, SharkBite fittings are a more common solution for quick connections. They are brass, so should be more reliable (not that the plastic fittings aren't reliable).

But if you're working with PEX, I would invest in a crimping tool and install it with copper ring crimps. It'll be cheaper, easier, and likely more reliable.

I agree with Mike. Using the proper PEX crimp fittings will be more secure (not that Sharkbites aren't secure), and you will have money left over for a night out on the town I am not sure of the plastic connections. If buried in a wall, how long will they last? No hard data.
