moving a bathroom on a slab house. old drain line ??'s

As I'm remodeling our house we are moving some bathrooms. I'm cutting the concrete slab and running new PVC sewer drain lines and venting out the roof. My question is the old sewer drain lines that are in the concrete, do these need to be sealed or anything cause they wont be used again. I was thinking of pouring concrete in the old drain lines when I seal up the concrete slab. Thanks

I'd probably cap the ends just to prevent any soil or gravel from washing into them over time and creating a void under the slab. Concrete would work for that, but do it in a way that concrete from your patch can't sink into the old pipe and mess up your patch.

I would definitely cap the pipes before pouring concrete. The last thing you want is for the concrete to either have a hole in it which causes sewage leaking... OR the concrete finding it's way down the pipes into your (currently) working pipes.

You can use either a cemented PVC cap if you have PVC piping, or a Fernco type rubber cap with a hose clamp on it.

Thanks guys thats what I was thinking. I will cap all drain lines before I pure new concrete to patch the slab. I'm replacing all lines so Im sure nothing will leak into the city sewer line.
