I have a leak where my main water line coming in from the well is joined to the line going up to the house. However, the area where they are joined is wrapped up in the most cockamamie way I've ever seen. There is a picture here. It looks like foam wrapped up in a soda can and/or bottle. We do have an outside well house, and I did replace the pressure tank last year, so I saw that the line into the house on the tank side was normal. I'm a bit afraid of what i will find inside this mess, which is where the leak is coming from. Any thoughts? Where I live, downspouts must be connected into the sewer. I am replacing old cast iron pipes with pvc and wanted to know if I can have my basement floor drain share the same trap as my downspout. The old cast iron setup was this way, but it was also installed 100 years ago. I'm sure code has changed. The positive of this is the trap will always have water in it. The negative I see is that if the trap gets clogged, the rain water will back up out the floor drain. Are they allowed to share? Thanks
