Gate valve repair/rebuild
My Gate valve that shuts off my water supply in my house has a slight leak. I would like to replace the "insides". It is soldered on 1" piping. I do not see any Brand name or model # on it.
Any idea whet this valve is called and where I could find a replacement (to use the insides of) or a rebuild kit? (I need a handle as well)

Not the plumber so other ideas may be coming. The small nut over the shaft is a packing nut, There may be some packing in there or a seal. If packing is worn out used to be able to get at plumbing supply. Take parts with you to try to find right part. Tightening that nut usually will stop leak. Don't turn to tight or you will not be able to turn knob.

I would start by simply tightening the packing nut. That usually takes care of it.

That rubber packing material but be a little hard. When you put the valve back together put a little silicone grease or vaseline on the smooth shaft. That will help the packing to seal better and allow the valve to turn easier when the nut is tightened.
