HDPE to PVC

I'm trying to scab a section of PVC drain pipe into a single wall black HDPE drain line. Can this be done? The PVC collars will not bond with the HDPE, even with a glue meant for both.

Are you sure it's HDPE and not ABS? HDPE is more often used for water supply piping....

In any case, with the dissimilar materials you should use a shielded rubber coupling.

https://www.amazon.com/Fernco-P1070-.../dp/B000BPGP8A

Worked like a charm for me.....little pricey but stopped issues of leaks/clogging for me.

Every transition that I've pulled up that had been duct taped (as seems to be common) has always been fubarred to me.

Went with non-shielded Fernco rubber coupler. Not sure what benefit I would have gotten from a shielded coupler?

The shield holds the two pipes in alignment. Unshielded connectors are usually only used underground where the earth holds the pipes in alignment.
