Should I polish or seal my exposed plumbing?

Should I polish or seal my exposed plumbing?
This might seem a little "out there"...I have a pedestal sink where the supplies and drain all go through the floor and are fairly visible behind the pedestal. I like to use quality parts and I'd like to keep this looking new forever.
(Before pedestal was installed)

Claw-foot tubs as an additional example have some VERY pretty (and expensive) fittings that are meant to look beautiful...is there anything I can apply to the metal(s) to keep it all nice & shiny?
I know from past experience that the copper stubs will discolor and the chrome pieces will eventually get "pimply".

I don't think chrome polish leaves anything behind to protect. But it made me think. Back in the muscle car days I would regularly use polish on chrome mags and then a coat or 2 of Glass Wax to keep them sparkling. Glass wax was very thin like liquid floor wax so it didn't build up in the nooks & crannies.
Just not real sure how much protection it offered.
Maybe a good liquid car wax would be ideal.
Thanks for the suggestions :-)

I would use chrome polish. The paste type in a jar works real good.
Brasso works good also, as any Navy guy can tell you.
Whatever you use, the pipes will need polished once in awhile, but just for maintenance.
