Drain mystery: What is it?

I'm starting to remodel a basement bathroom. After removing the old sink and vanity, I discovered this drain access/opening (see photo) that was hidden under the cabinet. What is it? Was a toilet located here sometime in the past? Actually, I wouldn't mind locating the new toilet here, if that's what it is.

It's a drain cleanout, used to gain access to the drain for snaking out any clogs. You wouldn't connect a toilet directly to the cleanout, but it does mean you have a drain running through that area. It may or may not be suitable for a toilet, a lot more information would be needed to determine that.

Welcome to the forums. That looks like your basic clean out to me. It is not suitable for a toilet. Among other reasons, I do not see any vent pipes in the area.
