This approach, though does not save either time or money, offers a significant advantage over the Wast King elbow which upper section is still too short for me even though it is longer than others. The Waste King elbow offers very little space between the disposal and the pipe (you can see in one of the posted pictures). I had to clip handle of a regular slip joint nut to make it work. I would like to see more space there. With the tailpiece, I can create that space.

Got everything from HD, and will put in them as soon as I see any leak. The master plumber at HD was offering exactly the same advice as here.
