Water system re-pipe
My water is piped in and goes to the pressure tank like any system. It has a combination of 1 inch copper soldered and threaded pipe to the pressure tank and switch. I will need to replace the 10 year old pressure tank in the next couple years. I was thinking of raising
the tank up 15 inches for better access etc.I can drain the house from the hot water tank and that works ok.
And I would install a drain under the pressure tank to make sure it could be drained.
I will need to cut the copper pipe coming in
from the slab and reconfigure all the little threaded pieces involved.
Is there any reason I couldnt replace most of the pipes around the tank and switch with PEX..?It would make it much easier..

I have one inch PEX between the stub from the well and the tank tee. The tank tee has a drain valve, pressure switch and gauge on it, then it goes to a ball valve attached right to the tee. Then I have one inch PEX from that valve to my water filters. It works fine and PEX is fine to use there, but keep in mind that one inch PEX is very stiff and any bends need to be large radius or done with fittings.
I too have my tank raised up off the floor about 8 inches on a platform of treated lumber. Just keep in mind that the tank is heavy when full and platform needs to be sturdy. And in California, there may very well be special requirements for earthquake tie downs.

Yes, I used PEX fittings where I was connecting to PEX; copper or brass elsewhere. Here's a photo, the 1" PEX is white. I use the Wirsbo expander system.
