I noticed when I opened the cabinet under my kitchen sink that it sounds like water is running. The same thing is happening in the master shower.
I've checked the meter and it's not turning.

Several possibilities I can think of:
1. You have a hot water recirculator pump to provide instant hot water at faucets.
2. You have hydronic heating and have air in one or more zones.
3. It's raining and you are hearing water flow in downspouts.
Any of those possible?

Where are you located? Is melting/thawing snow a possibility?
Where are your kitchen sink and shower located in relation to each other? Are they back to back on the same wall or are they in different areas of the house?
