Should vertical drain pipes be straight?

I have the joyful opportunity of hanging new drywall on a bathroom wall. That wall contains a drain that, as far as I can tell, is only for the bathroom sink in the floor above it. So, 14" drop or so to the bend in the basement.

Rather than being a straight shot from the basement to the second storey, a horizontal 2x4 was placed in the wall that bowed the drain pipe. This house is full of questionable repairs and modifications and I assume this bowed pipe is due to someone just forcing things in instead of doing things correctly. However, this curve DOES allow the waste water to calmly flow along a curve and potentially make less noise than a straight drop to the basement.

Since I have the wall open, should I remove the 2x4 and let the pipe be straight, or should I keep the gentle bend to it?

Thank you,

A picture would be useful:

If there are other reasons to remove the 2x4, fine, but unless it is obviously straining the pipe of putting stress on the connections, there's no harm in a minor bend in a vertical drain pipe.

No major strain on the pipr.

In the meantime, I became annoyed with it and cut the 2x4 out. Nothing bad happened. Pretty sure I'll leave it out.
