sharkbite connectors

I have seen those sharkbite connectors for years but I stayed away from them.
The other day I used one to join copper and pex and it worked good. I was surprised.
Now I can imagine designing nice plumbing designs without the thought of dreaded solder.
I guess they kept working on the design and now it works good. How about that...

Yep. Have had no problem with them. They are, however, expensive, so large projects may not be be the best. Transitioning from CPVC or Copper to PEX is great. Then take off with PEX and have no worries.

I use them sparingly but I personally won't install one inside a wall.
I don't trust them that much.

without the thought of dreaded solder
There is no dreaded solder, just taking the time to get the correct materials, spending a few minutes to properly clean the pipes and fittings and then a few seconds to execute the soldering technique.

The cost of a couple of the SBF will offset the cost of soldering.

Never put a SBF in a wall, it may come back and bite you!!!!

I am a semi fan of bite fittings. Especially, when they are in stainless steel I like using them. The nice advantage is that they use the same pipe as press fittings M-profile, thus a combination of bite fittings and press fittings is possible. (I always play with the thought of placing my finger into a bite fitting......)

When I described the SharkBite connector to my wife, I told her to image "a Chinese finger trap, but made out of brass." She understood completely!
