Need Help identifying this plumbing piece.
Hi. I don't know anything about plumbing so forgive me. Could someone tell me the name of this white ring at end of the pipe? Is the white piece and the metal ring all come in one piece? Also I see that it keeps the connector from coming loose from the pipe when the connector is screwed on so is it hard to get that white ring permanently attached? What type of tool do you use to attach the ring. Thanks for any help.

Welcome to the forums! It is called a cone washer. You don't need teflon tape nor pipe dope, as it seals with pressure applied by the nut behind it. DANCO 0.125 in. Cone Washers-80332 - The Home Depot

Thank you chandler for being so kind to respond. It was leaking from the cone area and I found out that the metal ring was called a grip ring. The ring is now moving because of all the attempts to rig up something. I guess that ring is just tightened by using a standard vice grips or something. I know now where to order those so hopefully I can put a new one on tight. Thanks for helping people on here you are a great person.

Yes, you need a new ring and washer. It looks like these are John Guest fittings.
The ring will only push on, you can't pull it off. The tubing should be cut squarely for the new fitting.

Thanks Handyone for the reply. I got the ring to push back and I pushed the cone father back. Somehow a 1/2 inch of the old pipe had broken off the far end and that's how it started leaking. I put it back together so far is isn't leaking. I will have to get new ones sometime down the line because those old pipes are all in this place. No home improvement stores carry those grip rings so it sucks to have to order those online. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to reply and the help!!
