Identifying this pipe?

Hello,

My wife and I are replacing our retaining wall and have a question on a pipe that's in our way. The old wall ended right before the pipe.

Wondering if this is an old pipe or if it likely needs to stay?

We also have pvc pipe with a cap on the other side of the driveway that won't cause any issues.

Thanks for any input!

Reminds me of a fill pipe... where they used to pump the fuel oil when the tank was in the basement or buried in the lawn. Maybe you could have it scoped / send a camera down it.

Thank you! I looked at the top of the pipe and the manufacturer is st.louis plumbing co. Would that make you think anything different? Thanks again!

Here's a closer look at the O/Ps pipe:

Looks like a hinged cap that has had a hole crudely punched through it.

Could that be the water shut off valve? Shouldn't be a hole in it though.
