Our well pumps only 5GPM. What can we do to get more water?

Cool

A well and pump are a system with a lot variables.
Tell us what TYPE of well (deep, or shallow, i.e. as in 25 ft or less), what kind of PRESSURE TANK (galvanized or bladder?), and what hp your pump is (1/2 hp or 3/4 hp?).
We'll be glad to help you. We just need a little more info.

The well pump was installed in 1991. It is 3/4 HP and 230V The well is 135' deep. The pressure tank is a 42 gallon galvanized metal. The pressure gauge reads from 40-60. The pipe comming into the house is 3/4". All the pipes in the house are copper. We have a softener and there is some iron in the water.

Cool

Sounds like that galvanized pressure tank is water-logged (as they tend to get), or it may need a new air volume control.
Try draining the tank down by at least a third (for air), and see if that doesn't solve the problem.
Residential 40-60 psi is above the normal residential 30-50, and you should be getting great pressure.
Good Luck!
