I have an old house with terracotta drain pipe. There's a cracked pipe section that I need to replace so I figured I would put a cleanout pipe there and kill 2 birds with one stone. This cracked pipe is on the side near where 2 pipes connect on the house side which would be the female side of the pipe. I was thinking I would cut that cracked section where I need to and remove the female connection piece and just use the original male end of the next pipe to connect my cleanout to. Is that doable? Or should I just make 2 fresh cuts and cut the connected section out altogether?

Seems like the previous owner cut a 1.75" hole as a clear out in this pipe instead of climbing on the flat roof to clear it. it started leaking today with heavy rain and his previous repair failed. I have had to make a temporary fix with all that the hardware store had which was a 1.25" drain stop. I used quick set paste epoxy to seal. So it's a pic pvc seal to a slightly rusty cast iron pipe. 3min set, 60cure I pushed the pvc onto the epoxy and sandwiched it. My worry is that it doesn't make a proper seal. How does epoxy seal in a situation like this with only slight pressure pushing on the parts? Btw it's an old house. Ignore the fact there is a drain running through the center of a room!
