Studor vent ridges on adapter

The 1.5" to 2" adapter seems to have ridges on it. Won't this form a bad seal with standard smooth 2" pipe?

I'm not seeing an adapter just the valve.
Pipe slides inside of the valve not the outside.

The valve is on the left, the right side is the adapter for a 2" pipe. I can take the valve out and plug it into a 1.5" so it comes in 2 separate parts but not sure why the ridges are there.

I haven't installed a 2" adapter before. I think the ridges go up, not down into the pipe. There should be a gluing hub at the bottom of the adapter or maybe threads.
It looks like the way it was packaged is not the way you would install it.
