Washing machine draining pan installation question

Hi, I need to get a new draining pan installed to fit the new washer we bought. The current draining pan is too small. The new draining pan is 33" deep and the new washer is 29" deep. The drain is in the middle of the draining pan and not in the wall. Can the draining pan be installed flush against the wall or should it be installed two inches away from the wall?

Thank you.

A drain pan can only drain by gravity which usually means it needs to drain down. If you have a fixed drain in the floor..... that governs where the pan needs to go if the pan has a drain hole in the center of it.

In my experience, the most likely cause of a leak from a washing machine would be a failed water hose. It's unlikely that the water would happen to go into the pan. If you check/replace the hoses every 5 years or so, you should't need a pan.

Maybe I'm wrong so I'll throw it out there -- has anyone ever seen a pan under a washing machine save the day?

I service appliances..... I've never had a washing machine flood. A little grease from the transmission on the floor.
