Shower controls replacement

My wife wants the three knobs on the shower control changed - they are real ugly. I took off the knowb and the little sleves that cover the cold and hot valves and the center shower control (diverter, I believe) and am wondering now if it is a good time to replace those three mechanisms. They do not work very smoothly.

Is this something that can easily be done, and how do you go about getting a "kit" with all the parts - knobs and all. The knobs I took off did not have a brand name. How do I find the correct parts. Any big risks in doing it myself?

Take the handle and all the trim parts with you to Home Depot, or a plumbing store, ask them to help you match up replacement parts, you have to take to old parts with you, or they won't have a clue to what your looking for, the old handle will let them learn what type of valve you have, and will allow them the get you the correct trimmings.

Good Luck

I'll try just that and follow up. Thanks.
