pipe noise

A few weeks ago we replaced the PRV on my son's mobile home. A week later he noticed that the plumbing hums when you turn on any tap. We replaced his kitchen faucet today and I got to hear the hum - it's fairly significant. When the PRV failed he had 120 psi for a day or two. I assume it might be related to that ?? any ideas on how to quieten his plumbing? I think it's all copper.

Change the setting on the pressure reducing valve slightly, either up or down. You MAY need to set it lower by several psi.

I'll tell him to try that. Right now it's factory set in the 50-55psi range.
Just called him while waiting the mandatory 180 seconds and it sounds like the new PVR might have gone bad, he's back at 120 psi

It is more likely that a piece of dirt has stuck under the seat of the valve. Having a large flow of water, from a bathtub filler or an outside hose bibb may clear it. Otherwise disassembly, cleaning and reassembly will be needed. It is also possible the dirt caused a cut in the seat and a rebuild would be necessary. Installing a strainer ahead of the PRV might be a good idea.
