Has anyone ever used a toilet flange extender. This would be a plastic flange top only (no 4" drain pipe fitting) which fits over the toilet mount bolts and down onto the existing flange attached to the floor. The piece I purchased is plastic, my existing flange is metal and I am not sure if I should caulk or seal between the two pieces prior to installation, or if the wax ring will sufficiently fill all the gaps when everything is tightened down. I purchased this piece as an afterthought after remodeling and tiling the floor with ceramic tile which raised the floor position and effectively lowered the existing flange level. I have an extra thick wax ring. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Is this what your talking about?

Silicone between the pieces than tighten it up.
