Help identify a pipe (black PVC) in our yard
We really need to identify this pipe that's Play strangely in front of the garage side entry door in our yard. It's black PVC with a cap that measures about 5 inches in diameter. We want to credit and recap it lower so that we can put pavers or even just pour cement over it so there's no trip hazard right in front of that door. Can anybody help identify this pipe before we cut into it?
Any reason we shouldn't cut it, recap it, and cover it? It's the one circled in pink in the image above.
Thanks.
Mike

You need to either dig and see where the pipe goes or remove the cap and look & listen while someone flushes a toilet in the house. In an old house especially with multiple pipes/clean-outs one area you have no idea what's what until you investigate. Just going by the size I would say the 4" pipe is a main cleanout and should not be covered over.
