What is this on my wall - landscape control?
I'm hoping someone can tell me what this device on my new house wall is. I came across it looking to turn on our landscape irrigation system, but it looks like an electrical line coming out of the bottom. Any ideas?

Your irrigation control should be inside the house.
Hard to tell what's in the picture.
It looks almost like the snout of a photocell for outdoor lighting control.
You may have to remove the two screws and look inside.

Thanks! That might explain why/how the outdoor lamp in the yard comes on, it's always on and there's no switch for it anywhere inside the house that I've found This is deep behind plants and get's no light, so that could control the lamp.

You can test it. During the day..... block it off completely. Allow a minute and see if the light comes on. Alternately,,,, you could point a flashlight at it at night. Allow a minute and see if the light goes off.
