Quck connect DWV pipe fittings

Our store just started carrying those quick connect fittings or DWV piping, similar to Shark Bites. Anybody have any opinions on them?

I have never seen quick connect fittings. I have always glued PVC pipe.

But those Orbit things only go up to about 1". I'm assuming Norm meant actual DWV piping like 1 1/4", 1 1/2", 2" etc since this isn't in the lawn sprinkler section? Seems like I've seen them for sink drain kits...but never for actual in the wall/under the floor stuff. I highly doubt they would be code approved...since we've never seen them mentioned or heard of them being used before. The process isn't that fast.

Here is a website that looks interesting:

Interesting....seems like similar has been available for municipal use I think....in really large diameters? Again though...they would have to be code approved in your area...whether they are available or not.

I can't remember the brand name that we carry, but I'm assuming that some of the local suburbs approve them. Otherwise we could not sell them. And yes we have the sizes up to 2".

There are a number of things sold that aren't locally code-approved. A lot of stores turn a blind eye to local codes (or in some cases, probably just don't know them). An example is the rubber Fernco couplers. Other than under-sink connections and underground, they aren't allowed. But the big box stores carry and sell many more of those than the correct shielded no-hub couplings.

I'm curious though what the brand is. Cementing PVC is pretty simple, and I'd imagine the fittings are pretty expensive at 1.5", 2" sizes.

Connectite fittings are available in 1-1/2 in., 2 in., and 3 in., per e-mail reply from Charlotte Pipe Company.

The brand we are carrying is KEENEY
