Quick sonect disconnect DWV piping

Today the factory reps visited our store to tell us about the KEENY INSTA-PLUMB fittings. The first question I asked them is if the fittings are approved and to code. They told me they do in fact meet national plumbing cods and almost all local codes around the country.

However, at this time they are only for 1 1/2 sized waste pipe. 11/4 is be designed as is connections for dishwashers and disposals. A lot depends on acceptance of the typical 1 1/2 kitchen waste pipe.

Thanks Norm. It looks like they are more expensive than the slip-fittings, but with the issues I've been having recently with the ultra-cheap p-traps at the big box stores, I may give these a try. I've found they have just gotten so cheap that they don't reliably make a good seal. A plumber friend of mine usually gets an extra set of rubber washers and replaces them when they don't make a good seal out of the box/bag.

So maybe paying a bit more will be worthwhile for a reliable seal!
