Strange T pipe soldered to old water pipe
I have a strange copper pipe soldered across a cold water pipe. It is pinched off at both ends and soldered across a cold water pipe. Does anyone know the purpose of this? I thought it might help with the pipe banging but not sure. I live in NJ so maybe it is a NJ thing. Can it be removed?

I've seen pipe used like that before as basically a pipe hanger. Supports the pipe a few inches away from the studs... The plumber who installed it probably didn't have a 2x4 scrap... so this was the next best solution.
Other than being a bit unorthodox, nothing wrong with it
