How do you test to determine which heater element in a hot water tank isn't working?

Cool

I'm not a plumber, but here's how I test:
A. Turn off power breaker to water heater.
B. Disconnect both wires from each element.
C. Test for continuity with an ohm meter. No continuity, replace it. Usually the lower element goes first, but I always replace both while I'm at it, if one goes bad.
Good Luck!
