Outdoor timer / water hammer fix?

I have an outdoor timer on my hose spigot, that turns on in the morning for a drip line. Every time it turns on I hear a loud bang. Any way to correct what I'm assuming to be water hammer?

I've never heard of water hammer when turning on a device.
Usually it happens when the device is turned off.

If you have high water pressure the valve could be chattering. You'd need to check the house pressure with a basic 3/4" test gauge from one of the home improvement stores.

If you can locate the source of the banging sound you can try and better attach the pipe so it doesn't move and bang. You can also try a water hammer arrestor or install a small pressure/expansion tank in the line.
