Repiping house

We are planning on having our house repiped. We currently have copper and cast iron. What would be the best for replacement copper, PEX or ABS? How do they compare cost wise?

PEX for the supply's, It the fastest and cheapest cost by far and far less likely to burst if it freezes.
Pex would likely be close to 75% for the materials and at least 1/2 the price for labor.
PVC or ABS for the drains.

PEX without a doubt, and doubly so for a retrofit.

If you have copper you have the best, certainly would not remove if it's in good condition.

I'm old school, I would never, ever, put plastic pipe of any make in my walls!!

The plumbers that will be doing the job said they would be using PEX for the water lines and ABS for the drainage.

I think that's a good solution! ABS and PVC are used interchangeably based on location. Around here, we never see ABS, but other areas in the US use primarily ABS. There's no real benefit of one over the other. You just typically don't want to mix them (which of course they won't).

Good luck! It's a big project I'm sure!
