Clicking in waste line

Clicking in main waste line beneath basement floor. Any water use sets it off. It went away for awhile but comes back. I'm thinking that something made it;s way and is stuck there?

What are your drain pipes made of? PVC, ABS or cast iron?

Have you noticed if the clicking happens when you run just hot or cold water? Maybe it's the pipe expanding with the change in temperature.

I doubt anything inside the pipe is making the clicking sound. It's possible but it would be hard to hear through the pipe and flooring up to the rooms above.

Our PVC pipes use to pop when anything warm ran through them, I found some thin plastic and put pieces between the hangers and pipe and noise went away!
