I have installed new sink and need to connect pvc pipe to existing copper drain pipe. What do I need to make a leak proof connection?

A little gadget commonly called a "fernco" coupling. It's a short rubber tube with a hose clamp at each end. They come in a wide range of sizes at your hardware store.

If the copper pipe is 1-1/2" then get an 1-1/4" x 1-1/2" fernco, it will fit just prefect.
