How do I get the water in toilet tank to stay at a higher level? It is about an inch or better below the maximum level line and I would like to get it back to there. The whole flushing unit is only a few years old. Is there some kind of adjustment or what? Thank you,

Yes, it's adjustable. How depends on the type of innards in your tank. If it's a ball on a rod, there is a screw you can turn (in this case counterclockwise) near the valve end of this rod (some people just bend the rod, in your case up). If it's a cylinder on the tube, then there is a silver spring clip on a metal rod.
